Budgeting for your wedding can seem impossible….. but all hope is not lost. Here are a few ways that you can save on your wedding day.

  • Cut back on your wedding list – Seems logical right? For some reason couples list are so long. Everybody does not need to be invited. Have an intimate ceremony with your closest friends & family instead of inviting people that you barely speak with or just because you are related.
  • Consider a Banquet Hall rather than a Hotel – A lot of banquet halls allow you to bring in your own vendors, own food, drinks etc…. Banquet halls can be a lot more cost effective than hotels. Independent caterers (Small businesses) in general are significantly less expensive than the hotels.
  • Decrease Cake Portion- If you have 80 guest, that doesn’t mean you need a serving of cake to accommodate that number of guest. A lot of guest may not stay until cake cutting & some guest may not eat cake. At the end of some events I see at least half of the cake go to the garbage – Such a waste.
  • Evite vs Printed Invitations – If you are having an informal wedding, you can send an evite which is minimal (if not free) rather than printed invitation. Invitations have a lot of additional cost (The cost of the stationary, The calligrapher, The mailing). If you are having an informal wedding – Evite is the way to go.
  • Wedding Favors- Wedding favors is not a necessity – Guest look for it, but again it is not something that must be provided. At the end of the night, I generally collect at least half of the favors off the table and return them to the unhappy couple. Save your money.
  • Wedding Programs – Another waste. People often have wedding programs at the ceremony and unfortunately half go in the garbage. Typically, only the older guest keep them. At beach weddings, guests use them as fans and leave them on the sand or their chair at the beach site.
